Night Resonance Poem by Peter Russell

Night Resonance

Lapidary and water-clock
The deep night's lucubrations
Ululation of hoopoes
And tongueless nightingales
The noise of distant jet
Airlocks in water-pipes
A lone singer in the Square
Paraphernalia of the humanist
Etimologicon, vocabulario
The crude rhymes beating in the head
Quatrain against clepsydra
Writing against the dead.
