Nightmare Poem by ANTHONY ANIGBATA

Nightmare

NIGHTMARE

In this nissenhut finds you me at night
This nocturnal call, won't you give me nirvana?
Do you want sleep erode my breast, for everyday
You come, tormenting me like a demon.
When comes the night, I fear to repose
For you my big challenge will come.
You are like a mirage, seen but not totally real
That unwanted visitor, that knocks my door at dusk
Why be that disturbance every single night
When I close my eyes to sleep
The child in the cot, the old woman
On the bamboo bed, the passenger on transit
All float and fall to the power of your tricks.
And when to full cognizance flung
Finds it's another dark-dream
A snake was coiled up on my doorway
Terrified, I tried to flee, it strikes. As I ran,
A lion chased after me and I woke up,
Just to know it's another dark-dream.
I have been your subject for years
And you, the master of my every night
But I am tired, tired of this noxious dreams.
