Nine Parts Of The Universe Poem by Ali Rahimi

Nine Parts Of The Universe

A woman is a land made of mystery, tenderness and ice!
You need to swallow the ice to feel what is inside,
A woman is a kiss at the crack of dawn,
On the hills of Ethiopia, in 1984 at time of famine,
A woman is love at the time of plague, pestilence, war and repression,
Womankind is a love incarnate, womenfolk is a peace cake, womanhood is a zest loaf,
A woman is a kaleidoscope, a panorama, a scrumptious salad,
Made of passion, fashion, and emotion,
Her mind for the appetizer, her soul for starter,
Guzzle and be guzzled away, man!
A woman is a treasure island, a bonanza, a jackpot,
Entails a gold rush, or a strike of luck,
Have you got that luck? Could you hit the jackpot?
Got superrich overnight? Or you are a flop? A failure with women?
A woman is an empire, the Byzantine,
Raided by Romans, Persians, Ottoman Turks and Greeks,
Going through cycles of decline and recovery,
Male battles for booties, jewelry, and discovery,
Could you be the Prince? The queen? The matron?
A woman is the Mecca, Paran, Bacca, Mount Sinai in Arabia,
Jewish Temple Mount, Hindu’s Chidambaram, Jerusalem, Lumbini,
The hub, the focal point, destination, man’s goal,
Requires a pilgrimage, hermitage to reach,
Forty years of wandering in dry, scorching deserts to get this woman!
A woman is a guitar at the hands of Mark Knopfler, Jimmy Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Joe Satriani,
Shouting for freedom, equality and justice,
But still under fingers of masculinity and patriarchal whims,
A woman is a god-sent gift to ungrateful men,
A holy, astonishing miracle not perceived by thick male minds,
A woman is hard as a rock, tender as amber, soft as silk,
Glorious as an impeccable queen, princess of hearts,
Has a sweet female voice,
Like nightingales’ melodious, nocturnal songs, mucking birds,
Not Germaine Greers’ Female Eunuch, not a castrated male,
Is a woman a sex pistol? Just curves and hormones? Cosmetics and paints?
Just for breeding, feeding, and household chores?
Is a woman a Virago or Termagant?
Stoned and hanged for her free will, love and aspirations?
Caged in veils to be safe from man’s wild touch and look?
To protect her only asset? Virginity? Grace, dignity?
She can sell her house, her car, her everything but she
Can’t sell her virginity, her dignity,
But beware,
A woman can be a TNT, a ticking bomb, a minefield,
Stay away, don’t tamper with it, don’t toy with it,
Don’t fiddle about with it, DANGEROUS! HAZARDOUS!
A woman is an encyclopedia, a dictionary of unknown enigmatic words and expressions,
Befriend the words, don’t be afraid, read them, feel them, discover them,
A woman is God’s masterpiece, a fantastic piece of art,
Perfect example of symmetry, beauty and delicacy!
Personification of loyalty, sincerity,
Token of love, sisterly, motherly dedication and affability,
A woman is nine parts of the universe ………….
