No Inkling Poem by BASAB CHAUDHURI

No Inkling

The wheel moves at a high speed
the tyre feels frictionless
generates heat
crushes life
inside temperature is just that the body wants.

Neutrinos bombard mercilessly
no one knows
no one is supposed to know
speed matters
momentum conquers.

On the road two pigeons fight
there are quite a few grains
scattered before them,
still they fight
over a mate perhaps.

Busy watchman
controls traffic -
already uncontrolled,
scratch screech screen
desperate morning.

Speed over speed
time falls on time,
scrunched forehead
focused on Pygmalion,
from billion to trillion.

Reason fails reason
crisis upon crisis,
dried daisies
raised urchins
no inkling.
