These hard grey walls
Are solid around me
Resisting my touch.
Their cold stones
Block out the light
So no warmth can enter here.
These four bare walls
Echo around me
Reflecting silence.
Their bleak depths
Shut out the world
And no birds sing here.
These damp dark walls
Will engulf me
Resounding with pain.
Their cruel strength
Has crushed my life
For there is no love here.
