No Midnight Message Poem by Richard Ansell

No Midnight Message

Rating: 3.0

No midnight message this, spoken in tongues,
Written in smoke upon a lace edged sheet,
But from the very heart and soul of me,
Face to face and pledged here, where we meet.

No midnight message this, in passion’s tryst,
Whispered into ears to leave impressed,
But plain and simply spoken in the sunlight,
Telling witnesses how much that I am blessed.

No midnight message this, but one for all hours,
Words to leave you sure of my endeavour,
Given to you solemnly and with my promise,
From this day forth our love will last forever.
