No One Could Protect Her Poem by Haley Brown

No One Could Protect Her

Its cold and dark
As he pulls the blanket up to her neck.
He keeps reaching,
Covering her mouth,

She can hardly breath.
She's gasping for air.

He's got her hair pulled back.
He moves his hands around.
Not even asking if thats what she wants.

She said stop
As he slowly took away her childhood.

She walks in pain that only she knows is there.
Why does he think that its okay?
She keeps pulling away,
Trying to imagine she's in another place.
That this is all just a dream.

He's got her mouth covered so she can't scream.
Days go by and she's not sure what to do.

Everything seems different
And she feels like there is no one to talk to.
The years go by and by.
The longer she holds it in.
The farther she sinks into dispair.
She can't keep going on
In this world so empty of care.
