No Power To The People Poem by Mary Champion

No Power To The People

When one individual,
privileged by a lofty pedestal,
speaks to air his grievance
the whole world will hear and take sides.
If his tongue is sufficiently well silvered
and his friends influential enough,
remedies maybe applied
and he may receive his due compensation.

But when the suffering millions,
muffled in their deep depressions,
cry out for justice
their voices occlude each other.
Many may hear the cacophony
but few will understand the wrong
and, lacking influential friends,
their grievances will go unremedied.
