No Sugar Poem by Katie Smith

No Sugar

All of my thoughts
on a crazy roundabout
I'm condemned to take.
The wind takes them away
Together with emotions felt.
But he's not a fair medician.
Is he?
We fight and search,
strive and deal,
meet and talk,
talk away the pain.
We give meaning
to nightmares we go through.
When there's no sugar,
one takes the bitter coffee to survive
and imagines its sweetness.
And in the meanwhile,
searches for sweet around him
and adjusts his tongue to the bitter.
