No Sunlight... Poem by sujata kumar

No Sunlight...

The door ajar;
She tried to peek afar.

Up the stairs the groom ascends,
Behind him his shadow pretends.
A glimpse from the back,
That's all she could have.
Chosen, he was her future partner,
Forever for life ever after.

Timid and shy, harnessing the galloping throbs, coyly she raised her brow;
Finger ringed, heart enthralled, eyes stealing, gliding, searching for love in store.
Early expectations...

Love is lost; it trails,
Belief in love fails.
Solemn and still, she conceives 'his love', shares
And gives heavy ears to his heart rendering stories of despair,
His reminisce...
Alas! It's her demise.

Love will never change its way,
There's no sunlight in the darkened way.
