No Sweeter Sound Poem by Jane Duskey

No Sweeter Sound

Rating: 4.0

The sound of silence surrounds me.
The whispers of the darkness are heard.
The murmur of shadows set me free
For some quiet is louder than a word

The surrounding sunlight pains me
The light it gives, I must despise
The sunlight can hurt a soul deeply.
For some light can cover over a lie.

The wind will continue its melodic song
The clouds do their own minuet
The stars shall never be away for long
In the night nothing holds regret

There is no sweeter sound than silence.
The sigh of the shade is sweet.
To the light I stand in defiance.
For the sun merely brings deceit.
