Nocturne V, Lullaby-My Dreams Poem by Kate Wiley

Nocturne V, Lullaby-My Dreams

Rating: 5.0

Based on the style of Blake and a folksong Joan Baez sang

If I look up and see the sky
The moon may ride the clouds.
The stars may shine and gleam upon
The ever-silent woods,
~The ever-silent woods.

If I sail up and touch the sky
To catch the silver gleams
And hold the moon, she smiles delight.
I float upon her beams,
~I float upon her beams.

The stars may dance and weave themselves
Among my tresses long.
An artist paints the vast expanse
To suit my slumber-song,
~To suit my slumber-song.

Then dawn may come...my little boat
May ride a downward stream.
The moon may fade, the stars may sleep,
I'll slip back into dreams,
~I'll slip back into dreams.

Fine lyricism. The haunting refrains are pure enchantment. As always, Sandra
