Nostalgia Poem by Uforo Umoh

Nostalgia

Rummaging through
Subconscious archive
I stumble on distant
Memories of foretime,
My greenery;
Then unparched by
Harmattanic winds
Of time.

That prefatory
Page of existence
When one enjoys
Freedom of naivety
And innocence.

When I scampered along
At moonlight orgies
In my native glory
In holy hedonism,
Unperturbed by the
Daring face of
Life.

Now I must traverse
Both the black and white
Patches of the earth,
For juvenescence
Is ephemeral.

Wonder then why
Geriatrics say the
Page gets closed
For good and
Mercurial the
Transition was?
