(not A Poem But A Short Love Story) Poem by Scott Clark

Setting...900 years ago.. in a river side tavern late at night

Sitting back in the shadows she takes a draw from her cigarette as she strokes her white cat...her hidden eyes dart around the room, she takes another draw then sighs deeply and resumes her search of the room as she flicks the ash in a try, then she turns in her chair and sees what she is looking for... a man... the man she dreams of.... the man who loves her...she rises from her hard wooden chair and walks slowly towards him...she runs her fingers lightly back through his hair and sighs as she finally meets the love of her life.....she sits down across from him and looks into his eyes waiting for him to speak...he draws in a deep breath and speaks only 4 words... I love you angel....he stands up and holds out his hand to her...she puts her hand lightly in his waiting palm and stands up...he pulls her into a light embrace and kisses her softly feeling like only the 2 of them existed...they break apart and he leads her out into the cool night are where they begin to walk through the bright moon light...they walk for hours being close to each other and listening only to the sounds of the waves as they break on the river bank and the soft breathing coming from each other’s lips...at every bridge over the river they walk to the middle and embrace to kiss once more then look down into the water to see their reflection in front of a bright starry backdrop...after walking for what seemed like half the night they walked back to the tavern and settled down into bed where they lay for the rest of the night kissing and caressing each other
