Not Alone Poem by Garrett Westcott

Not Alone

The Prince of Peace from heaven has come
Divine estate no longer His home
The first advent offered no throne
But the Baby King was not alone
Mary and Joseph were close by that night
Soon joined by shepherds who had come to see the sight
Perhaps in the dark there were unseen friends
Maybe ten thousand angels each stronger than a thousand men
An army of servants
Angels and men
All sent by God
To protect the Child, who without
The war we would not win
