Not Anymore (Cloud Computing And Its Implications On A Programmer) Poem by Roby Chittilappilly

Not Anymore (Cloud Computing And Its Implications On A Programmer)

I loved your robes;
So thin, that was,
made your body almost bare.
Not anymore.

Being in clouds,
you are close to unreachable.
The guis, started it all.
Before their arrival,
I had you close to my hearts,
Not anymore.

A verb, see is,
that eyes can do
whereas a noun, C is,
the dress you used to wear.
Not anymore.

How much I wish,
again I could see you in C
though with heartfelt pain,
I realize
Not anymore.

The new dress,
suits you not.
so beautiful in C
Once You were.
Not anymore.

Lured the youth once,
beautiful body
of yours.
Being among them,
More than happy, I was.
Not anymore.

Don't you realize,
not you, but your
hot dress that
bought attraction.
Not anymore.

Of course, is your body
powerful albeit scary
it is.
Youth out there,
had a lust for your power.
Not anymore.

No people I know,
loved your body.
Understood is your
expectation of
being loved in cloud.
Not anymore.

Are you too high,
that my kisses find it hard
to reach you.
Remembering the old times,
when romance started
at my finger tips and
caressed you,
more than anything.
Not anymore.

Come back dear,
from the clouds
I need you here.
So nicely woven C,
I've for you.
Can I struggle no more,
without you,
Not anymore.

Emptied the ballroom
for you and me.
Wanna go for a Rumba
together, with no audience.
struggles and worries
no more.
Not anymore.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
C is the programming language with which you are very close to the machine internals. The language which is very close to machine language. It is with C that the youth in a generation was attracted to Computer Science and Engineering.

Business started to grow. A dog eat dog world. Microsoft, Sun and other biggies came into picture. Competition became stiff. They started to put coatings over C. The most dangerous coating ever was GUI. More high level languages were developed. Slowly, people started drifting away from the machine. They are placed in a more high level world. Finally, it is cloud that is getting implemented. Microsoft and amazon came up with portals for cloud implementations. Programmer is becoming dump day by day with the high end guis released by the business. Machine is no more known to the programmers.

The poet has memories about the sweet old times and how much love he had for the machine when he was using C. How much he feel the indifference when the machine is moving towards cloud. Out of all the emotions, the poet is trying to convey that, the machine was more beautiful in C than it is in cloud. He is attempting to convince the machine to come back to use the language C, though he knows his hope will never materialize.
