When Oprah Winfrey and Howard Lyman were sued by Amarillo Texas cattlemen twice (double jeopardy?) for 'libeling meat' in asserting that Mad Cow and spongiform encephalopathy in other 'food animal' species were not being reported, twice the 5th Circuit court ruled
'truth is not libel'.
Howard Lyman had been a 4th generation Montana cattle rancher. When he developed a cancerous spine, he promised God that if he were healed he would end cattle ranching, which he did. His site is
Mad Cowboy.

Oprah angered the cattlemen by saying on the show
that she would never eat another burger.
