Do not tell me I'm pretty.
When the worlds produces those prettier than me daily
When I see my reflection everytime I pass a reflective surface
Bathroom mirrors
Rain Puddles
Parked Cars
Classroom Windows
And your eyes
I'm not pretty, not even close
My button nose and slanted eyes are not pretty
The way my laugh exposes my brown gums is not pretty
My slender collarbone looks that like I'm being starved
Only to be contradicted by my stomach pouch
That's not pretty.
I have no cushion on my butt, yet have really thick thighs
Not to mention my toes that are too long to be considered normal
Stop calling me pretty
I'm not deserving of that compliment
My light tiger stripes don't convey pretty
My tall length is not pretty
They way my body is a canvas of all shades of brown is not pretty
Or the way my kinky hair is two different colors
These reasons should be justification enough to not call me pretty
'You're right' he says. 'You are not pretty'
His eyes never leave my own. And after a moment I get why
'I'm beautiful ' they convey
