Not So Trace Memories Poem by Matt Burgett

Not So Trace Memories

Lying in the grass as the show begins
you're hand's tightly grasping mine
And as a tear roles out of my eye
You ask and I say I'm fine

But as the sky lights up
My memories are more than trace
With those hot summer days
And the crowd on edge as I slide in safe

I know it when you look at me
An Emo kid a home run king
But how could that be
You have to be fibbing

But I say it's true to a tea
Even if you don't believe me
And I promise to keep telling you
That I miss everything

And I want the feeling back
As I swing with my muscles tense
Just to look up
As the ball flies over the fence
