Not To Be Played Poem by Fired Heart

Not To Be Played

Sorry babe, you’re not my cup of tea!
So many more like you,
So many more like you who I’ve been able to see.

I don’t get tricked by those pretty eyes.
It’s so easy to fall into them
And drown in a sea of love and lies.

Other girls may fall for your funny lines;
But not me.
I do find your antics quite amusing;
All this for one little kiss from me.

The thing is you all think you’re something so special
When I could find a hundred boys like you in a minute.
You want to drag me home and put me in your bed;
I want to stay here and find someone unique and fascinating.
I am like your prize; HA!
But you’re not going to win it!

Yeah babe you can have my number;
I doubt it will get you very far.
You think you’re so cute,
Maybe you are...
But once you’ve walked me home
All you’ll get is a kiss on the check,
And I will say
‘...Thanks. Better luck next week,
You little player...’.
