Not To Be Proud Poem by Bireswar Halder

Not To Be Proud

Rating: 4.0

Nothing is infallible in this world to ravages of time
A big palace you see may turn into debris any moment
The beautiful life - of which you are proud - may be lifeless in an instant
So be practical and be ready to face all sorts of uncertainties.

You are not happy and feel discomfort in your wonderful mansion
Although it's full of modern amenities with lots of valuables
But sleepless nights may make your life miserable in every step.
A fear, restless depression may stalk you every moment in life.

You may run after name, fame and power - all these are transient
The money you earned in a dishonest way will mock at you
The opulence piled in the iron safe over the years for future use
May shirk you while you are cursed with a fatal malady, down in bed.

You may be a multimillionaire but may starve if luck turns against you
You can now feel the pains of the poor who have to starve
As only a patient can understands the pains of another patient
Now think of a balance-sheet - which is more - debit or credit?

Be composed and try to face reality as predicaments teach us more
Beware of pride as it's like tall trees uprooted by storms
Everyone should be happy whatever he gets and enjoy it fully
O dear, nothing is permanent, bad times not of your making too are not.
