Nothing Poem by Rose Jones

Nothing

Doing nothing
Nothingness is absolutely boring
I want to do something
Not sit, not die
But I'm here, aren't I?
I gave up
Seems like hours ago, yet only minutes have passed
All working, hu?
Not at all
I would give anything
to do something
In this world
To make a change
A noticeable one
Or at least die trying
Not speaking
Not talking
Moving
Something so basic
I want my life
I need to take the reigns
But I can't
Over-leaders, over-takers are here
Taking away my life
Taking away my choices
Talking about liberty, giving none
Every has to talk
But only one does
Everyone decides
But that isn't happening
Chinks in the law
Boring chinks
Unhelpful chinks
What I would give to talk
Elections are worthless
Because it isn't real
Not here, not now
Self elected rulers
Dictating to us all
Do this, do that
Democracy, gone
So I don't try
I won't try
I won't put effort into what I have no say in
Not for a while
They've got it handled
They say
But it isn't true
I have no say
So I will just watch
They haven't given me a reason
I am just sitting back
I gave up writing, gave up acting, gave up pretending
We'll just go off them
That's what they want
No reason to love
No reason to feel compassion
No reason to try
No reason to act
No reason at all
I am just stuck here
An accessory
Sitting
Waiting for some one to want me again
To make me feel welcome
To let me talk
So I am nothing
Nothing at all
Reduced to foam
Sitting
Staying
Silently
