Noticed Me Poem by Shayna O'Connell

You say that you have found her
the one you've seen your dreams
saying she's the perfect girl
I know she isn't what she seems.

I watch as you change more each day
but you think you're still the same
I try to tell you that it's her
but you think I'm just insane.

You yell at me to leave you be
and then you turn around
I watch as you leave me there
and walk away without a sound.

Later that day after school
at the shawsheen river bend
I broke down right there and cried
because I missed my friend.

Then you came up behind me
and saw my tear filled eyes
when you sat down beside me
it took me by surprise.

You take me in your open arms
and shyly dry my tears
saying that you'll never leave
you gently ease my fears.

You surprise me with a kiss
as tender as can be
as we're sitting there together
you finally noticed me.
