Notion Of Love Poem by Shannon Greenwald

Notion Of Love

As I sit here alone in the dark with the black crashing in like waves trying to drown me, my thoughts go out to him.
Always to him the one, who understands me, helps me and with whom I can only know pure joy.
As my thoughts travel out, out into the night I can’t help but wonder what danger lurks out there,
waiting, watching, wondering when the time is right to strike and take my thoughts away from the one happiness I have ever known.
And once they have been captured do I lose them?
Where do they go? Will I have any memory of the Notion of love
that I sent to the one person who will never leave me,
will never love another as much as me.
No matter what he says, no matter whom, how, what, where or when, so he says.
And I love him, so I believe him.
As he believes me when I say he is the light in my life,
the one I live for. I hope my dreams and wishes will make it to him,
all the purity, hope, peace and my ecstatic love.
May the love I send reach you, or else I live for nothing.
