A Little Birdie Told Me
A little birdie told me once that I had died,
When I left school a certain person who was
Near and dear to my heart,
Told people, everyone in fact that I had died.
You see this wouldn’t have been such a problem if I had in fact
Lost my life, but I am very much alive,
And I was then as well.
A little birdie told me I was going to jail,
A list had been found with names
Of people to be killed.
Police were told that I wrote it,
When in fact not a single word or letter on the entire sheet
Had been in my handwriting.
But believe me the Police did not, ...
You knew, didn’t you, that I was sick
And I was leaving.
You didn’t want to be alone with them
They didn’t love you like I did,
I can’t help but hope with all my heart that you don’t think I abandoned you,
You knew I was sick and you were scared.
So was I, things would be so much better if you were here
I love you so much no matter how many times I write it, it won’t go away
The thought that I abandoned the one thing I ever truly loved
