Now That I've Found You Poem by Okoemu Okoemu Okoemu

Now That I've Found You

I woke up one morning
Thinking of you
The prettiest girl
I saw in my dream
I wanted to lay my hands on you
So I started out, searching for you
I entered every street
Looked into every home
For just that girl so beautiful
The prettiest girl wearing a red gown
But I couldn't find you baby.

I've been to up North
Came down to south
Then to east and rounded up in west
Trying to find you
Lord knows i tried
But you were nowhere
And I was giving up.

I suffered many things out there
Attacks from all
Bandits, cultist and terrorists
People saw me
And they called me a fool
My mama heard it
She said I've gone crazy
I know she was right
I think they were right
Because love is a fool
Yeah, love is crazy
And I was in love.

I became a Christian
Not missing the mass
Hoping to find you in church
But each day
Padre says 'go in peace mass in ended'
No you anywhere.

I became a Muslim
Not missing jumat
Hoping to find right
there in the mosque
But every Friday
I go home without seeing you.

I became a traditional worshipper
Not missing all the rituals
Hoping to see you
At the shrine
But all the days rolled by
You did come there.

My heart was burning
I knew I was in love
So I went to four walls
Keep on searching for you
No institution ever saw
a prettiest girl like you
I was becoming frustrated
God knows I was.

Until I took a trip
to my countryside
Where mama and papa live
So in the morning
I was in the garden
I saw her passing
Yeah that was her
Her name is Iziegbe.

You see,
Iziegbe, I've to places
I've been through a lot
Searching for you
Not knowing
What I went round the world
Looking for, is right under my nose
Just by my father's house.

Iziegbe knew
This love was a thunderbolt
She too felt a déjà vu
It was a bliss
I won't waste time
We won't waste time
We will move now
Swift and fast.
