Numb Poem by James Partington

Numb

Rating: 4.5

Moving to the edge; the end.
Don't look down.
Eyes fixed to air - I am 'at sea.'
Don't turn back.

Tears of past lovers, frozen to my face;
Barnicles to a boat, leeches to my soul.

A shell, driftwood, ambling North. Slung to the pale;
A remorseless wastleland. Fate, with a serrated edge?
Perhaps. A smile plastered to the canvas of a desperate being.

Here I stay, trapped in my eternal yesterday.

This piece was inspired by the Rowan Atkinson quote, 'I love walking in the rain because no one can see me crying.' It is also my first attempt at poetry!
