Numb Poem by Mary Champion

Numb

Last night I dreamed I was with you
and tried to play our song.
But though each note I struck was true
the melody was gone.

I could not hear the pedal steel;
that sweetly piercing tone
so penetrating you can feel
the purest pleasure known.

Last night I dreamed I was with you
and tried to play our song.
But though my fingers played it true.
the melody was gone.
