O Guiding Star! Poem by Ajit Kanale

O fair dame! My partner for life,
A stranger you were, who became my wife!
Looking back, years aplenty since that day,
Bedecked with wonders, lies our trodden way!

We were two tweens, brought together
Bubbling about, floating free as a feather!
In a tumultuous world, you gave me calm thence
Keeping my universe, and me, in balance!

You strode by me, as I kept walking along
Unknown paths, blind, alike to right or wrong!
Over this great sea, which I struggled to cross,
You held me steady, flying like an albatross!

When I soared high, you kept me tether'd,
Only thus, storms aplenty could I have weather'd!
From dawn unto dusk, you were my guiding light
Treading by me all the way, without taking respite!

You've given me strength to live, O lady mine!
You've shown me wonders so many, grand and divine!
My queen, all the stars and seas couldn't span,
The debt of this one lucky, grateful man!

Like the lost seaman's guiding pole star,
You have been my peace amid life's long war.
O woman pristine! Let my take your hand,
And walk you ahead, towards new uncharted land!

Like the winds in the sky, let's move around,
And sail new seas, and visit new ground!
Once again, let's go to the days of yore,
And drink up life's sunset like kids once more!
