Oban Poem by Laurence Overmire

Oban

It's hard to find a more
Picturesque town than
Oban

The Gateway to the Isles

Set like a jewel on the
Firth of Lorn
Near the mountains of Morvern
And Ardgour

McCaig's Tower
Above the town
Looks like a miniature
Colosseum

Close by the shore is
Dunollie Castle
Stronghold of the MacDougall's

Of course, there's a distillery here
And many a place else in
Scotland
A wee dram
Never too far away

Gaelic is the culture
And the ancient tongue
By many
Is still spoken

You might learn Gaelic, too
If you linger for awhile.

Especially after a wee dram.
