Ocean Eyes Poem by Andrew Rose

Ocean Eyes

Eyes of oceans,
Deep blues and greens,
Forever changing,
To the beat of the waves,
Crashing on the beach,

Reflected in those eyes,
Are storms of tragedy,
And calm days of peace,
Reflected in those eyes,
Is a sun filled horizon,
Sparkling off the water,
Sending its rays down deep,

Deep beneath the surface,
Of a public facade,
Into the depths of a,
Cold,
Hard,
Heart,

That sorrowful heart,
That hides in the pitch black,
Dressed in scars,
And protected by the unseen giants,
That shelter in the dark and the deep,

To stare into those eyes,
Is to be lost at sea,
Dragged down by whirlpools,
And crushed,
By the tidal waves of life,

But to be met by them…
It’s the refreshing smell of the sea,
On a summer breeze,
The sun bouncing of her long hair,
As the warmth of intimacy follows us,
Down the sandy beach,

It’s those eyes of oceans,
That I love with all that I am,
Full of intelligence,
Wit,
And understanding of life,
Where I can lose myself in her,
And watch the world float by…

The girl with eyes of oceans,
Lying peacefully by my side
