Ode To A Rose Poem by james stillwell

Ode To A Rose

Ode to a rose

Sweetness fills the air.
I see in the center of my garden
A crimson rose - it's petals like velvet fair.
Dew clings like a jewel on the softness of it's bosom.
I am careful of it's thorns - though it seems so winsome.
Like a queen you reign over every other flower.
In your presence they all seem to cower.
As above the court you do tower.
My lovely rose - once you were a bud trim and tight,
Then you opened your beauty to my sight.
I know that your days are few,
There is so little time to cherish you.
Soon your velvet clothing will fade and be gone,
And like a lost lover for you I will long.
