Ode To Ferrari Poem by Josiah Lozier

Ode To Ferrari

A dark shape filled the old tarmac road,
a vulture lazily circled, eyeing the object that sat without sound,
humans called it impractical, noisy, and dangerous,
yet here it sat, without a sound not moving,
heavy silence filled the air.
Suddenly, a thunderous roar erupted from the still object,
Pistons fired bringing their crushing blows down,
forcing air down the steely throat,
the Ferrari came alive,
Spittle spewed forth from four heads,
Their toxic breath roared from deep within the belly,
Fire erupted from its nostrils,
an unfortunate fly screamed in terror
and was enveloped in a searing flame,
roasted to well done.
Uncontested the ferrari released another roar,
heat waves arose from the burnt track,
suddenly a contender came forth,
lights shot forth from its square face,
it issued a shrill sound,
challenging the Ferrari to a race,
the lights arranged, forming numbers,
sneering at the beast sitting at the line
the Ferrari bellowed taking the challenge,
spinning its powerful wheels
the lights showed blood red,
as the Ferrari eyed the square face with contempt
then the lights flashed a yellow sun color
the Ferrari revved its powerful engine,
green evil flashing eyes stared down at the Ferrari,
daring it to race.
fury filled the red beast,
it jumped from the line with volcanic explosion
red lava rapidly moved its way down the tarmac,
the tarmac groaned as the Ferrari sped down the race strip
with heart stopping acceleration.
the beast dug deep into the grey ground,
finding grip it pushed forward
ear splitting sound filled the air,
like a dragons roar.
The tarmac tried to hide but couldn’t
as the Ferrari ate the tarmac with blinding speed,
burning rubber could be smelled for miles
as the Ferrari muscled its way forward.
Square face became worried the Ferrari was
coming much too fast,
faster than thought possible.
The finish was in sight,
as the ferrari found more liquid to satisfy its starving hunger,
it leapt with it’s final breath,
across a line that had seen much death.
Square face wilted in fear as his numbers
displayed ten seconds flat.
The ferrari stared down square face,
it roared a victory cry.
The red beast sat cool,
satisfied with its performance.
The race strip was filled with relaxing silence,
as the Ferrari sat enjoying a massage,
cool liquid flowed over its skin
it released a deep throaty roar in pleasure,
and then closed its white eyes in sleep.
