Ode To My Wallet Poem by Sarah Mansaray

Ode To My Wallet

Quilted yet smooth
Shiny and swirly
This wallet caught my attention
Catching me, I was drawn
Like a moth to a flame,
A lioness to raw meat.
I bought it, happy as can be,
As a kid on their birthday.
I slipped my money in
Feeling higher than an airplane,
Larger than life, cooler than a cucumber.
Dangerous, it is
A vial full of poison,
Slowly brewing against me
It was
Purple and gold,
So pretty, I felt unworthy
Like a peasant wearing silk,
Unworthy of this wallet.
Nevertheless, I resisted to take it back.
