Ode To Oklahoma Poem by Nichole Kaci McKnight

Ode To Oklahoma

They say Oklahoma is okay.
I love Oklahoma that way.
Our weather is very unpredictable.
In the spring we live under severe weather.
The threat of a twister brings fear.
The last twister brought about destruction and despair.
The loss of property is great, the loss of life does happen.
But do not fear, if a twister is not near.
Oklahoma has many lakes and that is great.
The Indians were driven to Oklahoma long ago.
What happened to them was a sin!
The Indians were feared due to their beliefs,
but they were not the enemy.
The beliefs of the Indians are to be revered,
Their belief that the Earth was to be revered.
Their organic method of live caused not strife.
In this age of chemicals we change the flavor of foods.
But now organic is the way to groove.
Oklahoma is great, and we relate to the Indian way.
Where the wind comes sweeping down the plane.
I could go on, but my poem would be long.
All I have to say is that:
Oklahoma is definitely okay!
