Ode To Saccharine Satire Poem by Nicholas Grass

Ode To Saccharine Satire

Roses are red, violets are blue
Do you like sappy poetry too?
I’ll make purple in my whirl of hue
Because a swirl in this world is due
Do you love me, do I love you?
I’ll be a tease with my curls and coo
This dove has love for the likes of a few
But alas this lass has said adieu
To much of the love that is now new
For I knew better than to stew
And simmer with the cauldron of... “Ew! ”
No saliva spit for me to get the flu
I’m already sick of most of this spew
Let it be lit, my point of view
Is poignant toward boys and their bad hairdos
In lieu of what they wear “Would you
Like to share a spare moment or two? ”
“No! I would not, ‘Sam I Am’
I would not like your green eggs and goo! ”
But, it’s Valentine’s Day
So, now I must say
To you of who are out there in love and stupid
It won’t last
You just got knocked in the butt from an arrow by Cupid
