Ode To The Cherry Blossom Poem by Eleanor Patrick

Ode To The Cherry Blossom

Spring light seeps through my window.
I breathe in the fresh spring air.
I peer outside my window.
The cherry blossom tree has arrived.

Laying under its branches,
It coddles me.
Caressing me with its petals.
Embracing me with its scent.
Dusting me lightly with pink and white.

I am being lifted into its branches.
Enveloped in the breeze.
I land.
Plop.
On a branch.

A petal lands on the tip of my nose.
Next to my freckle.
It falls, landing on my jeans.
And slowly,
It falls,
And it glides.
Arriving in the fresh cut grass.
Slowly, its life seeps into the dirt.
Enriching the soil.

Summer comes and go's.
Autumn passes.
Winter retires.
Spring arrives.
A bud slowly opens.
Ode to the cherry blossom.
