O Trumpet for the dumb, lift up your cry,
Give sound to throats long tightened by their fear;
Let silence break beneath your brazen sky,
And make the unheard ache of truth appear.
You rise for those whose words were crushed and bound,
Whose pain lay folded deep in patient chests;
Through you, their buried grief is shaped as sound,
A call that will not bow, nor seek for rest.
Not noise for pride, nor blast of empty flame,
But breath made bold with justice at its core;
You name the wounds the powerful won't name,
And knock, unyielding, at the guarded door.
O Trumpet, speak where lips were taught to cease,
Turn muted lives to song, to claim, to stand;
Till dignity rings out as earned release,
And truth walks free across the listening land.
