Of A Sound Mind Poem by Cindy Thacher

Of A Sound Mind

Is anyone of a sound mind,
just how is it defined?
One's thoughts may be kind
or wicked, like a demon's mind,
Neurons may be intertwined
or confined
to where only the blind
are able to see what is behind
the spells that bind,
Do I need to remind
you of many stories combined?
Let us rewind,
Remember, leaders, while attending the daily grind
their secrets were told, they resigned,
or doctors who need to find
a 'fix' to unwind
and hide behind
their title on the sign,
I am inclined
to suggest 'sound mind'
be re-defined,
For if one is lucid, refined,
why do they lie behind
our backs? Fool, comes to mind.
Is that a sound mind?
