Transcend Poem by Cindy Thacher

Transcend

Narcissus coveted his majestic reflection
an obscure reflection,
A lucent image he would seek
this ancient image of Greek,
Self-consuming, absorbing, exaltation,
well beyond deprivation.
I knew a man tainted narcissistic
seized being idealistic, humanistic, egotistic,
Using persuasive, filthy charm, you see
no compassion, only trickery,
Regrettably, I said 'I do'
ignoring the tiny, subtle clues,
Reverting to repulsive imitations
during our seemingly intimate conversations,
Like the slender blades of freshly cut grass
cutting remarks filled with crass,
My blind faith of loyalty
he saw it as Royalty,
With bold, royal commands
heard not were vulgar demands,
In 'his world' it's about 'ME'
lacking empathy,
Knowing not the unforgivable pain
must I refrain?
I never knew
is pure hatred true?

So now, this chapter...'The End'
my life will Transcend.
