Of Mothers And Daughters Poem by Anisha Nyambe

Of Mothers And Daughters

if only she had known
the light never shown
she would've treasured her more
than ever before
one girl, three boys
goodbye girly toys
just to hold her close
and then she chose
a different path
away from the wrath
of all her thoughts
now the mother is caught
about to die
begging for daughter's eye
this girly girl
with knife end twirled
she does not see
her mother's plea
to be with her
to sit with her
to talk with her
to laugh with her
to love her.
