Of The Power Of The Pen Poem by Francis Duggan

Of The Power Of The Pen

Of the power of the pen we so often do hear
But the gun or the knife known to instill far more fear
In you than the worst thing about you one could write or say
From a verbal attack you recover though the mental scars may stay
With you for sometime but the gun or the knife
In the wrongs hands could become a threat to your life
And since respect for human life everyone does not pay
Who would wish for to die in such a violent way,
For lowering of self esteem words can be a fuel
And I do fear harsh words for harsh words can be cruel
But the gun or the knife as I have said before
Than the harshest of words I do fear far more
Harsh words will hurt your feelings but the gun or the knife
In the hands of one out to harm you could cost you your life.
