Oh Can'T You See. Poem by mariam khan Farah Abdulahi

Oh Can'T You See.

Rating: 0.5

Oh can’t you see
You came to my country
You said you was from the land of the free
You took one look at me in my hijab
You asked why I let my religion oppress me
I said oh brother go home
Read your bible or torah
You will see
I only do as god has asked of me
Just look at Mary
(Peace & blessings upon her)
She always dressed so modestly
You went home & time went on
I was able to be me
Then
My government then turned on me
I can no longer go to the Mosque where I want to be
Oh can’t you see
I can no longer be free
In the place I want to be
Oh can’t you see
It’s you who has oppressed me.
