Oh Treacherous Path That Is A Poet's Mind Poem by Onyi Ogwumike

Oh Treacherous Path That Is A Poet's Mind

Oh treacherous path that is a Poet’s mind.
Feeling their way through the world with
Fingertips laced with lavender scented words,
Rosy utterances.
For what else is poetry,
Other than the mindless mumblings of a mad man.
Driven insane by an earthshaking,
Towering sanity.
The black tall brick of the limits of what is.
Then climbing over on limbs of lightening,
And eyes opening to a beautiful blindness,
Blind.
Blind to the human sanity,
To human limitations.
A masquerader,
Poor boy
kissing the cardboard with every morning come,
Standing with suits of ivory.
A tongue of steel,
Encased in gold.
Oh treacherous path that is a Poet’s mind,
Stay still under my mortal feet
That I may walk you
If just for one night.
