Ol Cusser Joe Poem by ERNEST CLARY

Ol Cusser Joe

Rating: 5.0

Ol cusser Joe
a rough and rugged ol chap
to church he'd never go
a fish hook on his cap
he wore the same clothes every day
never washed or dried
you could smell him a mile away
a shotgun by his side
he was always in his yard
sitting in a chair
saying life is hard
his feet were bare
no one stepped on his land
because they were scared
a beer in his hand
as he sit and stared
one day I was walking by
Joe cracked a smile
he said hi
come talk a while
he told me of his life
how he tried
about his wife
how she died
he told me about his place
over the years
down his face
rolled some tears
as I listened the page turned
more so
a lesson learned
now I know
something you dont read in books
I learned from Joe
dont judge a man by his looks

The images this brings up are great. It follows that so many poems may never be read because of their titles, curious how that led there...lol
