Old Friends Poem by lady iel

Old Friends

Rating: 4.0

Someone told me
He saw you somewhere
A smile was painted on my face
Looking like I’ve a lotto game

I asked myself
Why did I react that way?
When we’re just friends
Who’ve parted just like others

I kept on thinking
When can I see you again?
For a long time had gone
Since we’ve seen each other

Then one day we met
You’re with your friends
And I was with mine too

There was something
In your eyes
I didn’t notice before
Could it be?

Though we’re near to each other
Yet I can’t find the strength
To talk with you again
Do you still love me?

Things have changed
The face, your voice
But you’re still you
The one I used to love

Why didn’t we last longer?
I kept asking myself
As my friends are asking me too
The answer I don’t know

You were with your lady
And I was nothing to you
There’s no sense
Saying these things anymore

You left before me
Without saying anything
I had to leave
Thinking ‘bout you and me

Sweet memories linger on, it doen't take much for the feelings to re-appear.
