Old Love Letter Poem by Andjela Antic

Old Love Letter

Old tales, told among those who believe
Legends, spoke those who have seen with their own eyes
Old stories, told kids before they go to sleep
While pirates cruise the sea, in waters deep
In ocean waves she swam
Moving lightly, while her tail shine
Only the brave would cross that line
Getting close, in physical touch
Just one look and you'd be in love

But the real tale is this

When she looks at you with those beautiful blue eyes
You'll just surrender your heart to her
That's what's written in old love letter
A young man fell for her, and she fell for him
On the first sight she enchanted him
And each night he wrote to her
All letters put in bottles, thorwn in the sea
And then he waited, every night, hoping her he'd see
He said, , the last time I saw her, she was sitting on the coastal rocks as the waves rushed into shore, bathing in the moonlight. Her hair captured colors of the sun and moon.
I found her sitting there alone, singing sad tune, in the blue lagoon. Her head was buried down and tears escaped her eyes and then her name i called. One last look we shared when back to the depths of the sea she crawled. Her fins is the last part of her I seen, and her cry was the last I've heard. Echoing thru lagoon my eyesight went blurred.

So I said goodbye to my love, my mermaid
Knowing I'll never see her again
With heavy heart, I walked down the beach
Opened door of my home, light up the candle
Sat at the table and wrote all about her
This parting was very hard to handle
And so these words I wrote
, , I loved her, I loved her so much that I don't think I'll ever love again, even tho she's not human and out of reach. Until my last breath I'll wait for her down the sandy beach. I'll sit on coastal rocks, as the waves splash them hard, I'll wait for my love, but now I'm leaving here my regard.'

Sadly young man didn't get to go to wait for his love to return
That night the storm came
Thunderbolts and lightning
Tempestuous sea, it was very frightening
As the waves rocked his boat
When he finished the note
His heart was breaking
For his mermaid, he was aching
From sadness his heart shattered
He fell down, his eyes closed
And then his heart stopped beating forever
The only thing left burning is his love for his darling and the candle on the table
