Omaha Beach Poem by Francis Poole

Omaha Beach

On June 6
if you go for a walk barefoot
along the tide's edge
where the waves
draw back
like a silk tablecloth
erasing the foam
from the polished sand
you might feel
the cold faces of the dead
on the soles of your feet
