On A Rainy Meadow Poem by John Cooper

On A Rainy Meadow

The sun cracks open
splashing light
on this lonely meadow
the grass grows wildly
unafraid of the height

Birds sing louder
than they did last night
air smells like rain
it's all a promise
like a warm kiss on my skin

The river runs moody
not in a hurry
knowing it will get there
eventually
wherever that is

The world keeps spinning
and we are all just
along for the ride
