On Emerging From Puddles Of Moonlight - Poem by indira babbellapati

we made a pact-
raka and i
that on every kartik purnima night
he will glow in your balcony
and in mine as well
and stealthily set ablaze
the distance between us

in one sweep
did he swoop down

and left a mark of whisper

behind my ear

on his way back
he carried away
a part of me
and laughed
teasingly at me
the laughter reverberating through
the moon-bitten sky

did you hear the laughter?

tonight at 22.40hrs
